RE: Generator

Does anyone know if this Cummins at Costco has electric start? I can't see it listed anywhere in the spec's.

RE: Honda EV 6010 LP Generator

Thanks for the link, but I did a search and read the few posts that were found. Just thought I would ask and see if anyone had any experience with this particular genset. There's not much info compared to the Onan and Generac.

Honda EV 6010 LP Generator

Is anyone here using the Honda EV 6010 LP Generator? I am going to install a generator in my fith wheel in the near future and was wondering if these are a good unit. Also, my trailer came with the generator prep, including the remote switch, hour meter, wiring pigtail, generator box etc. Do I have to replace the compartment door with a vented door or will the genset get enough air from the hole I need to cut for the tailpipe? Any installation tips or info you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks,
Bob M

RE: Full Timing in a Park RV?

I own both a Park trailer and a fifth wheel, I would never consider moving the Park trailer. The park trailer does not have power slideouts, they are designed to be pulled out and left out, and they are designed to be supported from the outside. My slides have a stack or two of cinder blocks supporting them when they are extended. Park trailers are named that for a reason, they are not a travel trailer. They are designed to be towed to one location and then "parked" permanately. If you have a chance look at one before it is set-up, everything from the couches to the beds is disassembled and secured. I would look for a nice travel trailer or fiver rather than a Park model.

RE: 1st ever RV.Net Dakota Rally-May 23-May 25 08

I plan on pulling out of Fargo on Friday morning, should arrive in Minot sometime mid-afternoon. Looking forward to meeting some folks and having a great weekend camping. Sounds like the weather might be wet, but we could sure use the rain. See y'all on Friday.

I still plan on attending but if you do decide to cancel, please keep me informed. There are some walleyes at Lake of the Woods with my name on them.

RE: "5th airborne" fiver air ride pin box

I've got the 5th airborne on my Escalade and it pulls like a dream. Really eliminates all the "chucking" and smoothens out the ride.

RE: Found A New Truck - Is It Priced Right?

I want to move up to an F350 dually for more pin capacity. I'm not real happy with the mileage reports I've heard first-hand from a number of 2008 Ford 6.4 PSD owners, so I decided to find a low-mileage 2006 6.0 PSD. (2007's are not easily found)
I located a 2006 King Ranch F350 DRW with 16,000 original miles on it for $31,998. Does this sound like a reasonable deal?
Sounds like a good deal to me, I wouldn't sell mine for that price. I can't remember the exact sticker price on mine but I know it was over 50k.

RE: 5th Wheel reccomedation

Looking to buy a 5th wheel. Who makes a well built unit. Desired options, heated underbelly, large kitchen, many cabinets, bedroom slide, super slide, more-ride suspension, also like suggestions I haven't thought of. Just wife and I, no bunks. Thank you.
You are describing a Escalade by K-Z to a tee. There is a dealer just down the road from you in Mandan, Riverwood RV. Great guys to deal with and their service is excellent. Take a day and drive down for a look, you won't be sorry. Ask for Monty and tell him that Bob from Fargo sent you. If you have any specific questions about Escalade or Riverwood, don't hesitate to send me a pm.

RE: Dakotas' RV.Net Rally?

I would be up for a rally, let me know when and where so I can arrange time off from work. It would be fun and I'm always looking for an excuse to head out in the 5er. Has to be somewhere that allows dogs cuz my golden goes everywhere with me.

RE: How many North Dakotans here?

I also reside in North Dakota, live just south of Fargo. I spend most of my camping days up at Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota. Have to say my favorite ND campground is Medora, love the badlands and the Little Missouri river. Let's have a get together this weekend, the wind is only supposed to be 50 mph with blizzard conditions and -50 windchills. If summer falls on a Sunday this year, I'm going fishing!!!

RE: Do dogs have a special sense/intuition about certain people?

Somewhat off-topic
I've never told anyone this: my dog growls at African-Americans. We got her at 12 weeks old, so I don't know if she experienced some traumatic incident before that. The area she grew up in is 99.9% Caucasian, so maybe it's just the difference she's reacting to (that's what the vet said), but it's SO embarrassing.
My last Golden did the same thing, didn't like black men for some apparent reason. A group of us from work were playing softball one night at a park in town and one of the guys I worked with, he was African-American, showed up and my dog just started growling and barking at him. Totally uncharacteristic for him, he loved EVERYBODY, so this friend of mine fortunately had a great sense of humor and hollered at me, loud enough for everyone to hear, "What's the matter Bob, don't your dog like brothers?" Everybody had a good laugh and fortunately nobody was offended.
I sincerely believe that dogs can sense bad people as well as people who are real dog lovers at heart. A friend of mine is a hunting outfitter in New Mexico and has a cattle dog that won't have anything to do with any of the hunters that come in each fall. Nobody pets that dog except me, she just seems to sense that I am a dog nut and she will cozy up to me evertime I am there. Others have tried to bribe her with treats and food but she won't have anything to do with them.
Dogs rule!!!

RE: what do you think about these trlrs?

I had a 2007 Challenger 32TKB, paid $32,500 for it brand new last summer so think 22,500 is high for a used 2003. It was a nice trailer but no way was it a 4 season, two things I didn't like about it were the small grey water waste tank because of the island kitchen and no access to the fridge or kitchen when the slides were in. In my opinion, to stay comfortably in colder temps, thermopane windows are a necessity. Just my opinion though, I'm sure others feel differently.

RE: dual pane windows?

I will never own another RV without them. They make a huge difference in both heating and a/c and they make your rig so much quieter it is amazing. I just spent 13 nights in my rig driving from ND to NM and back, temps down to -13 one night and no sign of condensation on any of the windows. Get the dual panes, you won't be sorry.

RE: KZ Escalades at Greensboro show...

I own a 2007 Escalade with the rear entertainment center and just love the floor plan. Always thought I wanted a big picture window in the back and now I am glad I don't have it anymore. Easier to keep the fiberglass rear cap clean and it seemed I was always looking out the window at another RV. Lots of storage and the pin weight is less with the rear entertainment.

RE: Replace TV with flat screen

We just took one of thos 3/4 thick plywood layin' out ther in the back yard from reparin the outhouse a coupa years back younda. And ah cut it to the size of r entertainment centers oppin. and nail h'r to the wall using about 10 or so of thos 16 penny nails an gutter spickes. Canda' like they do on that thar TV in hurcaney season. But I got to tell ya, after about 6 or 7 times of pullin them thara nails, there just aint any more places to nail that thos previous holes wern't there. Then cous' George sugested for us to cut and nail a couple of 2x4's to the wall and the other side of that centers openin, and nail that bord to thoes 2x4's. Well I's got to tell ya, he's a little slo in some thing, but this make all of the differance in the world......You'all could paint that thar plywood it to match you;all's decor, but we ( coon doges.cats and her kittens, cous george, his mses and thr three couz, and childn) and the misses we all kinda like the natural water stained warped wood look, Kinda brings back that back home flein look when we when'a is a travin.
Now that there is funny, I don't care who ya are, that's some funny stuff right there.
